Good to know before you buy
- No admin console. Devices are managed at /account, not in a central dashboard.
- No SSO and no user directory sync. Everyone uses the same team key.
- No SOC 2 report and no HIPAA certification. We show the architecture instead.
- macOS needs Apple Silicon. Windows 10 and 11 and Linux (Ubuntu 22.04+) run the same on-device engine.
- Each device needs an internet connection once to activate the key.
If your team needs any of these, a cloud product may suit you better. We would rather say so now than after the rollout.

How does team licensing work?
You buy one license for a number of devices. Your team gets one license key, and each person activates it on their own computer, up to the device count you bought. The price is $29 for the first device and $15 for each additional device, per year. The buyer sees every activated device at /account and can remove one to free the slot for a new computer.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment covers 12 months. Nothing renews automatically and we never charge your card again without you starting the payment yourself.
What happens after 12 months?
The license ends and Whisper stops working until you renew. We email you 30 days before, and nothing renews by itself. If you renew, the team keeps the same license key and 12 months are added to the current end date, so you lose no days by renewing early. Nobody has to reinstall or re-enter a key.
Can we add devices later?
Yes, at any time. Each extra device costs $15 and runs until the license's current end date, so all devices renew together. Teams of up to 100 devices buy and add devices themselves. For more than 100, use the team contact form.
Can we get an invoice or pay by purchase order?
Checkout asks for your company name and VAT ID and sends an invoice with both. If your finance team needs a purchase order first, send us the details through the team contact form and we will set it up with you.
Do you offer a pilot?
Yes. We offer a free 14-day pilot for up to 5 devices. Request it through the team contact form. We review each request by hand and reply by email.
Does audio leave the device?
No. The speech model runs on each person's computer, and neither the audio nor the transcript is sent to us or to anyone else. The network is used for the one-time model download, a license activation that sends only the key, and optional update checks. After activation, dictation works offline.
Which platforms does Whisper run on?
macOS on Apple Silicon, Windows 10 and 11, and Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer). One license covers all three, so a mixed team does not need separate purchases.
